Free parking in week before Christmas

Kells Town Council will provide free parking from 16th to 24th December in a bid to boost Christmas trade in the town. In the 2011 budget, councillors made provision for a free week's parking during Christmas week, one of the busiest of the year. There will be free short-term on-street parking from 11am to 6pm each day and free long-term off-street parking from 9am to 6pm each day. The time restrictions are applied to ensure that the maximum numbers of on-street spaces are available. The council will erect signage on the approach roads to the town and promotional signage for display in local shops will be circulated by the end of November. Kells Town Council is encouraging all local businesses to promote this initiative in advance of the Christmas shopping period.
