The death took place on 19th September last of Mr Vincent (Vinny) Donnelly, Ballyhack, Fairyhouse, Ratoath, peacefully at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, after a short illness. Deceased lived his entire 81 years in the townland of Ballyhack, adjacent to Fairyhouse Racecourse, and was well known to followers of horse racing. He spent nearly all his life on the land and Ballyhack was where the world revolved for him. In his younger days, he played football with Kilbride GFC and was on the first team when the club was reformed in 1949. The then relatively new club went on to become centre stage in Meath football in the 1960s and early '70s, winning five Meath senior football championships. All his six children played either football or camogie with Kilbride and his daughters Joan and Catherine were part of a very successful team that won three Meath senior camogie titles in the 1980s. Mr Donnelly was very proud to be guest of honour of the club in 2009 for 'La na Club' to celebrate 125 years of the GAA. He and his wife, Kathleen, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in June of this year. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sons, Vincent, David, Brian and Desmond, all Ratoath; daughters Joan O'Brien, Dunshaughlin and Catherine Finn, Ratoath; brother Anthony, sisters-in-law, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, 18 grandchildren, relatives and friends. His funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr Gerry Stuart, PP, in the Holy Trinity Church, Ratoath, and burial was in the local cemetery. All 18 of his grandchildren participated in the ceremony, and Kilbride GAA club formed a guard of honour at his removal. The month's memory Mass will take place at 12.15pm on Sunday 23rd October in Ratoath. ____________________________________________________________ Patrick Kerr, Navan There was considerable sadness following the peaceful passing at the untimely age of 48 of Mr Patrick (Paddy) Kerr, Troytown Heights, Navan, at the St Vincent's Unit, Mater Hospital Dublin, on 3rd October 2011. Deceased's most recent place of work was at the Maxol Filling Station, Flower Hill, until a few years ago. He was a familiar sight cycling his bike and walking around the Proudstown area. Mr Kerr is survived by his parents, Jamsie and Peggy Kerr; sisters and brothers, Margaret Mueller, Seamus, Declan, Geraldine Moroney, Martin and Paul; brothers-in-law, Hans and John; sisters-in-law, Jennifer, Catherine and Aileen; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and cousins, relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Oliver's Church to Kilberry Cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Michael Durkin, Hayestown There was great sadness at the death of Mr Michael Durkin of Hayestown, Navan, in his 97th year on 14th September last. Originally from Collagh, Swinford, Co Mayo, he was predeceased by his wife, Annie and their son, Michael Junior. He is survived by his sons and daughters, Martin, London, Kathleen, Dublin, Bernadette, Kentstown, Ann, Danestown, John, Dublin, Eddie, London, Seamus, Navan, Breda, Duleek, Patrick, London, Theresa, Mallow, David, Trim and Eugene, Navan; sons-in-law; daughters-in-law; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nephews, neighbours and friends. The funeral mass was held in the Church of the Assumption, Beauparc on Saturday 17th September, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Veronica Allen, Garlow Cross There was great sadness over a wide area following the sudden death of Mrs Veronica (Vera) Allen, Yellow Walls, Garlow Cross, Navan, at her home, on 28th September last. Mrs Allen (nee Brennan) was a native of Boyne Road, Navan, and worked for many years in the Navan Carpets factory. Deceased is survived by her husband, Paddy; sons, Patrick and David; daughter, Kerrie; daughters-in-law, Edel and Avril; grandchildren, Patrick, Sean, Jack and Jamie; all Garlow Cross; brother, Paddy, Boyne Road; sisters, Frances Allen, Rathnally, Trim, and Leonie Reid, Donore, Drogheda; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and many friends. Her remains were removed from the family home to the Church of the Nativity, Johnstown, with burial afterwards in St Mary's Cemetery, Navan. A month's memory Mass will take place in Johnstown Church on Saturday 29th October at 7.30pm.
