Mundy and his Painbirds fly into Venue Theatre

Mundy and The Painbirds take in Ratoath on their first Irish tour after playing a roof raising show at the Electric Picnic, packing the Crawdaddy Tent to capacity for the third time. The Painbirds are Keith Farrell on double bass, Colm Querney on guitar and Sarah Lynch on violin, and they will be taking to the road with Mundy to interpret his own catalogue and play some tracks from his latest album 'Shuffle', a love song to Mundy's favourite American writers. Mundy releases Lucinda William's track 'Drunken Angel' on Friday 21st October. He says: "I bought 'Car Wheels On A Gravel Road' by Lucinda William's impulsively and had no idea what I was getting myself into. She restocked my shelves with love and hope as a songwriter and I even got to open for her. A very attractive singer songwriter!" Drunken Angel is the third single to come from the album Shuffle throughout which Mundy artfully flicks through lesser known tracks from many of the greats. He revisits tracks such as the ghostly 'Lost On The River' by Hank Williams, before giving the nod to modern day hero's like Sparklehorse and Gillian Welch not forgetting some inspired truck stops at Tom Waits, John Prine, Paul Simon and Lucinda Williams along the way. "This record was a pleasure to make and I wanna thank all of the great writers of these songs for inspiring me, leading me and guiding me in my career through darkness and light." Shuffle is Mundy's fifth studio album, which follows Strawberry Blood released in 2009, Live & Confusion in 2006, Raining Down Arrows from 2004, 24 Star Hotel from 2002, and Jelly Legs his very first album was released in 1996. Mundy and The Painbirds appear in the Venue Theatre, Ratoath, on 1st October.
