Downgrade on the cards for Pairc Tailteann

Meath Co Committee could be under pressure to upgrade the terracing behind both goals at Pairc Tailteann ahead of any championship games at the venue next year. Croke Park have issed a directive that the capacity of the ground will be reduced to 10,000 unless the grass banks behind the goals are replaced by proper terraces. Meath Co Committee earned €9,000 from the gate receipts for the All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Galway at the Navan stadium while that jumped to €39,000 for the next round against Kildare. That increase resulted from a television fee for a live game of €20,000 with the balance from the 10 per cent share of the gate receipts. Meath's revenue from the NFL and NHL dropped by 25 per cent to €36,500 for 2011 compared to €47,000 for 2010. The 2011 figure would show a more substantial drop except for an additional payment of €10,000 for the NHL game between London and Meath at Ruislip. Take that out of the equation and the hurling income was €4,000 with the football at €22,500..
