Moynalty's good form brought to an abrupt halt

Moynalty played Dunderry in the Minor football tournament semi-final at Moynalty but their hopes of advancing further received a setback when they lost out 0-10 to 6-12.

Moynalty went into this game on the back of two wins already this week to qualify for this semi-final. However they came up against a very strong and well set up Dunderry side.

The first-half was a close encounter with both teams cancelling each other out. There was great defending from Joe McMahon and Sean Cassidy, while Sean McMahon worked hard in midfield.

Moynalty had some good moves and got good scores from Eoin Gilsenan and Caomhin Cussen. A late flurry of Dunderry points left them ahead by four at half-time.

In the second-half Dunderry upped the intensity and pulled away as they hit Moynalty for five goals.

It was a disappointing end to the competition for the north Meath side as it was the team's first defeat.

Moynalty now look ahead to the league which starts in two weeks.
