Deputy Butler welcomes Killyon FG to Leinster House

The recent visit to Dail Eireann proved to be very popular with members and friends of Killyon Fine Gael. Leinster House looked magnificent in the mid-summer sunshine with the flowers in full bloom. Ray Butler TD was on hand to welcome them to the Dail and organise the tour of both Houses of the Oireachtais. The visit happened to coincide with a debate on turf cutting. This proved to be very interesting and informative to the group who reviewed proceedings from the very comfotable surroundings of the gallery. They were then given a tour of Leinster House which included a visit to the Seanad, where proceedings were in full swing. During he course of the visit, it was noticeable how friendly and helpful the staff of Leinster House were to the members of the public. The group expressed their gratitude to Michael O'Rourke, member of staff at Leinster House and Dr Liam Toomey for their kind assistance on the day. The tour continued with a visit to the office of Ray Butler where the deputy was on hand to explain the procedures that are in place when a vote would be called on a particular piece of legislation. Before leaving there was time for a photo opportunity with Ray on the steps of Leinster House. It was also an opportunity for branch president PJ Cunningham to thank Ray Butler for his hospitality and kindness. The annual general meeting of Killyon Fine Gael took place recently at the GAA Pavilion in Killyon. There was no change to the positions previously held by members. PJ Cunningham congragulated Ray Butler on his election success and Joe Fox who has taken over the seat on Meath County Council. Members heard that the Hill of Down telephone exchange is enabled, which shall clear all obstacles for broadband in Killyon. The branch thanks Deputy Butler for the enquiries with Mr Sean Longford of Eircom in relation to provision of broadband services in the Killyon area. Congratulations were extended to Deputy Damien English and his wife, Laura, on the birth of their baby girl, Karla.
