Bankers should not be bailed out

Dear sir - The voters and tax payers of this country should inform the Government and all politicians that we refuse to bail out the bankers. The citizens of this state would not benefit one cent if the obscene debt of €180 billion was repaid. In fact, we would be bankrupt and this nation would be ruined. The reckless lenders gambled and lost, so let them bear the losses, not the innocent citizens of our country. The urgent priority of our Government is to tackle the €12 billion annual deficit in the day to day running of this country. It must be reduced now and eliminated sooner than later. The people to target for "a dig out" in this case are the wealthy and not pensioners on low and modest incomes who already have been charged the new Universal Social Charge. Yours, John McGrath, Burtonstown, Balrath.
