Meath survive in NFL Div 2 + local results

Meath survived in the NFL Div 2 with a battling draw at Pairc Tailteann today against Tyrone. However, it was Kildare's late victory over Sligo (by a point) that spared the Royal County a tour of the backwaters of Div 3 next year. Antrim also lost to Derry while in the other game in Div 2 Laois beat Donegal. An estimated crowd of around 4,000 turned up in Navan and it was the home supporters who were celebrating at the end - but only after it was announced that Kildare had beaten Sligo. The players were applauded off the pitch and will now focus on the Leinster SFC where could meet their saviours from today, Kildare if the Lilywhites overcome Wicklow. Meath will play the winner of that game at Croke Park on Sunday 5th June. At Navan today Meath were adrift by 0-6 to 0-8 at the interval, but were inspired by some superb Graham Reilly points in the closing stages as they mounted a major escape bid - and got away.
