Local celebrities to dance night away in charity 'Stricktly’

Well-known local faces from Meath will take part in two fundraising events in aid of the Aisling Group International in Trim's Knightsbrook Hotel in the coming weeks. The first event, on 28th January, will see some well-known local people take on the persona of celebrity singers for a night when they take part in the 'Stars In Their Eyes' competition. It promises to be a great night's entertainment and attendees will be treated to singers performing well-known songs to suit all tastes. Tickets are €15. Meanwhile, other volunteers will be treading the boards over two nights in aid of the charity when they take part in Stricktly Come Dancing. Under the expert guidance of dance teacher Margaret Browne, this group will consist of well-known business proprietors, sportspeople and community members. They can be seen in this major event over two nights, on 3rd and 10th February, at popular Trim Hotel. Voting from the floor and judges will determine the outcome and participants are seeking support for their efforts. These events are to raise funds to support Aisling's children, family and community services which have been providing support for those affected by drug addiction for over 20 years throughout the community. “All of the participants have put in many hours of training and we encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the night and support them on each of the three nights. It is so uplifting to see people taking part, hone their skills at singing and dancing for each of the charity's events and we hope to have sell out performances,†said Aisling director, Marie Byrne. “As grants have been relatively frozen for the past two years, we are relying on fun, well-organised public events to continue our community work. There are more events in the pipeline and, hopefully, they will give some fun to people this year,†added Ms Byrne. Judges will also be on hand for any tie decisions and some celebrity guests, such as well-known TV and media presenter Eamon Keane (nephew of late John B Keane) will be present at one of the nights.
