Dunboyne scouts hit new heights

The 1st Meath Dunboyne Scouts scaled new heights with their novel fundraising idea at the weekend as scouts and adults abseiled down the side of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown. On Saturday 6th November, the Crowne Plaza Hotel played host to their unusual guests as 60 scouts and 90 adults abseiled down the 11-storey eastern elevation of the hotel which overlooks the M3. The novel event was originally organised to give the scouts an exciting opportunity to do something 'off the wall’. However, this unique chance to descend from one of the region’s tallest buildings sparked great demand for places with the adults wanting in on the action, too. Due to the interest generated, the event doubled as a fundraiser for 1st Meath Dunboyne. A fantastic day was enjoyed by the scouts and their mentors and, despite some challenging weather conditions and rooftop jitters, all made it safely back down to the ground.
