US-based priest in visit to home town

A Kells priest who was ordained in the US earlier this year returned home to Kells recently where he celebrated Mass in St Colmcille’s Church for family, friends and the wider community. Fr Paul King, a son of Bernadette and the late Patsy King, was ordained in the Sacred Heart Church, Aberdeen, South Dakota, on 28th May. He is now based in the parish of St Lambert, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Fr King visited Kells for a couple of weeks recently and a large crowd attended a special Mass he celebrated in St Colmcille’s Church, which was attended by friends and family and the local community. A party was held afterwards in the Headfort Arms Hotel. Fr King grew up in Kells and attended the local CBS school, but left Meath at 17 years of age. He attended the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 1989 to 1991 and from 1999 to 2000 and then Holy Apostles College, Cromwell, Connecticut, from 2007 to 2009. He has taught at a school in Illinois and assisted a vocations director in Mexico.
