Colourful array of sounds and sights at Navan busking festival

The second Samhain Sounds Busking Festival which took place in Navan on Saturday was a resounding success with both shoppers and visitors treated to a wide range of music and entertainment throughout the day. This was the first Navan event as part of the Spirits of Meath Festival. From 12 noon until late in the evening, over 50 buskers arrived in the town, with buskers positioned on the main stage at Kennedy Plaza, in the shopping centre and outside e2 music. There was a style of music for all with Tara Ladies Choir, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, Saramai Leech and Joy Booth, Navan Samba Band and many, many more. Cathy Martin of Meath Arts Office said: “The whole day was so successful from the good weather to the hundreds of people strolling, the markets and going around listening to all the various music styles.” Sean Mulligan of the Profile Music Group said: “As the busking festival was in it’s second year and was so successful, we can safely say that an event like Samhain Sounds can only grow and improve as the years go on. “It was an amazing day which left Navan town with a very lively and relaxed vibe to the streets, due to all who turned out and supported us. “We hope all enjoyed browsing the stalls or the families enjoyed the street entertainment.”
