Weekend of star acts in Oldcastle

Some of Ireland's best talent is on display at some of Irelands best festival prices, this August Bank Holiday weekend in Oldcastle. Caffrey's Redroom welcomes Mick Flannery to one of the most astoundingly impressive acoustic venues in the country, Caffrey's Redroom on 30th July. Mick's inventive writing style coupled with a deep melancholic voice had been earning him plaudits from far and wide for the last few years. Guests are Henrietta Game and Baker Jnr. At the Marquee Stage this year, sponsored by Phantom Radio, Fight Like Apes get the festival off to a punk-fuelled romp on the Friday night. Widely acclaimed as the future of Irish punk, the Apes played last year's festival and delivered a memorable set which had the capacity crowd shake the marquee loose. Codes, Planet Parade, and Grand Pocket Orchestra support. On Saturday night, 31st July, Jerry Fish and The Mudbug Club bring the whole Fish experience to the Redroom, with guests Ollie Cole, and Simon Fagan. On Saturday, the Phantom Marquee stage will play host to an entire record label. The Richter Collective is Ireland's premier alternative label, and this year will shanghai the marquee and bend it to its limits, with some of the country's most innovative and inventive rock and alternative acts. This opportunity offers the chance to witness the very best and possibly the loudest acts of the weekend: Bats, Not Squares, Hands Up Who Wants To Die, Enemies, Jogging, The Continous Battle Of Order, Boutrous Bubba, and Grey Mayhem. The Oldcastle House Hotel will play host to the Lough In Ball Comedy Club who will bring their manic stylings to Oldcastle on Saturday 31st July. Headliners will include Fred Cooke, Rory O'Hanlon and Kieran Lawless, some of Irelands hardest working and innovative comedians. The final acoustic night in the Redroom sees one of the country's most recognised vocalists with Jack L on Sunday1st August. He plays Le Cheile as part of his nationwide tour promoting his new album 'The Story So Far -The Essential Collection', an album which has just gone platinum. Guests are Saramai and The Swords, and Emilys Eldest. Sunday night at the Marquee sees Ireland's techno-metal aficionados, Noise Control, invade Oldcastle for their second tour of duty. Recognised as the best around, legendary UK techno band, The Prodigy, hand-picked Noise Control to support them on their last Irish tour. The last time Noise Control played, the night descended into chaotic turbulence, with the crowd shouting for more. The Cast of Cheers, Hogan, I Phoenix, and Seven Days are guesting. Closing the festival on Monday night, the Weapons Inspectors mark a return to their old stomping grounds. One of Ireland's most laid back and entertaining cover bands, the Weapons will blow you away with their energy, on-stage antics, and sheer powerhouse musical performance.
