The French connection

Dear sir - Being a long time supporter of Meath football through the different eras of Mick Lyons, Geraghty, Giles, Fay, Stephen Bray and Caoimhín King, I have to express my deep disappointment with the players and/or whatever manipulating forces were in the background to come a decision where a non-victory would be the choice of such a spirited and proud county. I am a Dublin man myself, with a Meath grandmother and many cousins still living in the Seneschalstown area. Our family joined our Meath cousins for the great 1999 celebrations. I am however heartened by the integrity of men like Bernard Flynn writing in the Irish Examiner that: "The bottom line is that it was an outrageous decision, daylight robbery and a real travesty of justice." Why, oh why, are 'the powers that be' or those that are sitting there saying nothing, allowing the Royals of the modern game become identified as 'Les Meath' ? Yours, Brian Lambe, Dublin.
