Toastmasters meet in Dunboyne

The next meetings of the Phoenix-Tara Toastmasters will be held on Monday 10th and Monday 24th May at 7.45pm in Dunboyne Castle Hotel, Dunboyne. The group meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. Organisers of the events say that Phoenix-Tara Toastmasters is not a classroom, rather a "learn-by-doing" environment in which people can develop communications and leadership skills among a group of friends, people who are there for the same reason as any other attendee. They say that the spirit of camaraderie and mutual support is one of the most satisfying benefits of Toastmasters membership. Most people have to speak in public at some time or other in their lives, at weddings, residents' association meetings, at family gatherings, at union meetings, at business meetings, at charity meetings and at work. Virtually every executive position advertised specifies the need for communication skills, which are generally regarded as key elements in building a successful career. Phoenix-Tara Toastmasters provides the tools to develop these important talents. Phoenix-Tara Toastmasters recently hosted the Toastmasters Area International Speech Competition in Dunboyne Castle Hotel. The Toastmaster clubs in the area - Castleknock, Clondalkin, Lucan and Phoenix-Tara (Dunboyne) - work very closely together as a group and support one another. Eric Fitzpatrick, Glasnevin Toastmasters, won the contest, beating the club winners from the other four clubs.
