Cllr wants south Meath bus services improved

Fine Gael councillor Maria Murphy has called on Bus Eireann to consider a range of improvements to the Dunshaughlin and Dunboyne bus services. "The new railway station at Pace outside Dunboyne will be opening in the near future," she said. "This will be an exciting and welcome development that will bring great benefit to the south Meath area. It is also an opportunity for Bus Eireann to review their current services from Dunshaughlin and Dunboyne. These services should act as a feeder bus for the train station." She added: "I hope to meet local management in Bus Eireann shortly and discuss their plans to the background of the opening of the railway station at Pace. I will be calling on Bus Eireann to provide additional stops in Dunshaughlin and outside Dunboyne. A bus stop is required to serve the Dublin end of Dunshaughlin close to the church and schools. A stop is also required at Gardenworks garden centre outside Dunboyne. A missing stop sign at the bottom of Porterstown Lane also needs to be restored." Cllr Murphy said she will be raising the difficulties people have in accessing Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown by public transport. A solution to this problem might be to divert a number of buses daily via the hospital. "Overall, Bus Eireann provides a top-class service to the people of Dunboyne and Dunshaughlin. It is important, however, that the service adapts to meet the needs of these growing communities."
