Mannix Kane from Kildalkey in happier times on a family holiday before news of his devastating illness.

Athboy Mannix appeal fundraisers

A number of fundraisers for the Mannix Kane Appeal in aid of the four-year-old boy from Kildalkey who needs medical treatment in America are to take place in Athboy in the coming weeks. Mannix is suffering from stage four clear cell sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. On Tuesday 11th May, a fundraising concert takes place in the Old Darnley Lodge Hotel, with TR Dallas, Matt Leavy, Charlie Arkins and Old Stagecoach, and other local acts. Doors open at 7.30pm, with the show at 8.15pm. Tickets are €15. The parents at Mellowes Adventure and Childcare at Moygrehan, Athboy, have organised a special fun event to help raise funds for Mannix's treatment. A family fun day will be held on Sunday 16th May. Two events are organised, from 12 noon to 2pm and 3pm to 5pm. There will be inflatable fun, mini golf, peddle go-karting, penalty kicks, bonny baby, face-painting, a clown, dance routines, pets, art and craft, barbecue, cake sale, tuck shop, raffle and novelty games. Tickets for the event are €20 for four people and €5 for each additional child/adult. The organising committee has sponsorship cards available and donations are also accepted.
