Slane should ignore outside interference

Dear sir - I would strongly advise the people of Slane to completely ignore any interference from Mr Salafia or his An Taisce cohorts regarding the planning of the by-pass for Slane village, as outlined in last week's Meath Chronicle. This constant full time objector, has spent his time costing the state millions of wasted euro in legal costs in his campaigns to stop motorways and roads being built, not just in Meath, but at the Glen of the Downs in Wicklow and Carrickmines in South Dublin. His uncaring attitude towards deaths on the road, shown over the N3 controversy, was very evident when I took him to task on Pat Kenny's radio show in 2007, his only interest is what is below ground, not for the safety of people above ground. This bypass is for the people of Slane and for the safety of all motorists who will travel on this by pass when opened. We in Meath do not require outside busy bodys or mealy-mouthed outsiders telling us what is good for us. The state has spent millions on developing Newgrange and the surrounding area for posterity. For once in this country let us put lives before historic bric a brac that might lie underground. Yours , Cllr Nick Killian, Ratoath.
