Hill of Down danger highlighted

Cllr William Carey is warning motorists about a dangerous bridge at Hill of Down, where the walls have partially subsided, exposing a steep drop. The Enfield Fine Gael councillor said: "Half of the protective wall at the Hill of Down Bridge is gone and there is a 20ft straight drop. I was looking at it yesterday and I went cold when I saw the drop. There was bollards and red tape but I think it has to be highlighted as people are not aware of the excessive danger." Cllr Carey said he had contacted Meath County Council but that he understands it is the OPW and Inland Waterways' responsibility as they own the bridge. "I wish to highlight how dangerous it is and call on all concerned to repair it as soon as possible," Cllr Carey added.
