Decision on Trim Aldi plan due next week
A decision is due to be made by Meath County Council planners next week on an application by the South-West Partnership for a development that includes an Aldi supermarket at the Longwood Road and Summerhill Road, Fosterstown, Trim. A planning application was lodged on 22nd September for the construction of a mixed-use development with a total gross floor area of 5,371sq metres that includes a discount foodstore, a motor showroom and a retail/office/restaurant development. Block A consists of a single storey discount foodstore (including an off-licence) with a gross floor area of 1,594sq metres and associated signage. The plans also include a double height motor showroom with a two-bay vehicle service area, ancillary storage, office and staff areas. The third block is a three-storey L-shaped building comprising of four retail units at ground floor, a restaurant and children's activity centre at ground floor level and mezzanine level, four office units at first and second floor level and a medical centre comprising six consulting rooms. Also proposed is the creation of a new vehicular entrance from the Longwood Road and new pedestrian entrances from the Longwood Road and Summerhill Road, 236 car parking spaces at surface level and 82 cycle parking spaces, a landscaped plaza, and associated landscaping and boundary treatments and site development works.
