Gardai investigate spate of crime in Navan and Trim

Navan Gardai are investigating the theft of a 1995-registered black Honda Integra from Distillery Quay, Navan, between 11.30pm on Friday 18th September and 3am on 19th September. The theft of electric power tools from a van parked at Flower Hill Crescent, Navan, overnight on 18th-19th September, is also being investigated. The estimated value of the tools is €2,700 and they were engraved with the initials KMCG. Gardai are appealing to anyone who are offered tools in suspicious circumstances to contact them. Meanwhile, there was an attempted burglary at Parnell Park, Navan, on 8pm on Saturday 19th September and 10am on 20th September. Attempts were made to prise the back door open and a bedroom window was broken but no entry was gained. Gardai arrested two youths who were attempting to break into a car at Yellow Clay Manor, Navan, on 19th September, at around 1am. As Gardai arrived, the two youths were in the car and they fled the scene but Gardai caught up with them and two arrests took place. A file is being prepared for the DPP in relation to the case. Between 10pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday, the window of O'Brien's Off-licence on Kennedy Road, Navan, was broken. At 9pm on 20th September, there was an attempted break in at a premises in the Mullaghboy Industrial Estate. A grid was prised off a back window and the window was broken but there was no sign of anyone gaining entry. A window was also broken at the Navan Community Childcare Centre in Beechmount Homepark between 9pm and 9.20pm on Monday night. Five youths wearing hoodies were seen running the scene. Gardai have arrested and questioned three teenage males, aged 16, 17 and 18, in relation to an assault on two men in Trim on 1st August. The victims were walking along Patrick Street when they were attacked and one man was struck in the face, while another had money stolen from his wallet. The three youths who attacked them were wearing hoodies. A file is being prepared for the DPP. Trim Gardai are also investigating a break-in to the Ramparts Café in Trim on 20th September at around 9.15pm. The alarm was activated and Gardai searched the area and found four youths, two 16-year-olds and two 17-year-olds, who were arrested on suspicion of burglary. A file is being prepared for the DPP. Nothing was taken and there was a minimum of damage caused. Gardai in Enfield are investigating a break-in to a garden shed at Rathcore, Enfield, between 2.30pm and 3pm on 18th September. A Honda lawnmower, Stihl chainsaw, Briggs & Stratton power washer, a Dewalt chop saw and rechargeable drill and a Hilti drill were stolen with reported total value of €5,800. Gardai in Summerhill are alerting people in the locality to suspicious activity at Cloneymeath on Wednesday 16th September at about 3.25pm. A householder arrived home to find a young male in his 20s walking from the back of his house who said he was looking to buy a dog box. When confronted by the homeowner, the man ran. He was wearing blue jeans, a sweatshirt and had dark tight-cut hair and was of broad build. Gardai conducted house-to-house enquiries and were told that a silver Volvo was seen acting suspiciously in the area. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Summerhill or Trim Garda Stations. Kilmessan Garadi are investigating a break-in to a house at Clady Meadows, Robinstown, between 8.30am and 6pm on Friday 18th September. A side door was forced with a screwdriver and a 42-inch television was stolen. Anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact the Gardai.
