Moynalvey NS celebrates its 50th anniversary this week

Moynalvey National School is celebrating its 50th anniversary on 12th June. The celebrations will begin with Mass at 8pm in Moynalvey Church, followed by a reception in the school and launch of a book on its history, 'Scoil Mhuire Maigh Nailbhe, 1959-2009". The book will be launched by past pupil Liam Harnan, a member of Meath"s All-Ireland winning teams of 1987 and "88. It traces the history of the school since its foundation and contains many entertaining articles and memories from past pupils and people associated with the school, and a photographic collection described as 'priceless'. Other past pupils include Devin Toner, a member of this year"s Leinster Heineken Cup-winning squad; Robbie Power, 2007 Aintree Grand National-winning jockey; Elizabeth Power, a member of Horse Sport Ireland"s eventing high-performance squad; elite runner Sarah Treacy, Meath under-age footballers Padraig Harnan and Daragh Branigan; Marie Louise Reily, a member of the Ireland ladies" rugby squad and a past member of the ladies" Ireland under-16 soccer squad and Meath ladies" GAA. All are welcome to the event.
