Trim kayak students take to river

Members of the Kayaking Club from Boyne Community School, Trim, recently took to the River Boyne along with two of their teachers. The school, which has its own set of kayaks, has been training students over the last year under the direction of teacher Oliver Mitchell, who is a trained instructor, assisted by another member of staff, Donnacha ' Siadhail. The kayaking club began training in the old swimming pool in Trim, eventually progressing to the open river. 'Boyne Community School is in an ideal position to avail of the facilities that are literally right on our doorstep. The students are very keen and have proved very adept on the river. It is hoped that they will eventually participate in national competitions, as well as the Liffey Descent,' said Mr Mitchell.
