Trim club takes top honours at 'X-Factor" funday

Meath Youth Federation recently held its annual 'X-Factor" competition funday in St Catherine"s Youth Club, Gibbstown. Clubs from Ballivor, Athboy, Gibbstown, Kells, Trim and Clonmellon took part and plenty of talent was on display from the various singers, puppeteers, dancers, guitarists and comedy acts. Each entrant received a certificate of participation and a medal. There were over 200 young people at the free event and all young people (and a few adults!) received a goody bag of crisps, sweets and a drink on arrival. Everyone received a ballot sheet to vote for their favourite act, and the audience vote chose the winners. Third place went to The Belly Boys from Clonmellon Youth Club, a comedy dance act, featuring Brian Greer and David Henry. Runner-up spot was clinched by Shauna Kelly (15) from Next Generation, Ballivor, who played guitar and sang a beautiful rendition of 'Halleluljah". The winners were Cula Bula Youth Club, Mornington Heights, Trim, who performed a great dance routine. There was 22 young people in this dance troupe aged eight-14 years and their dedication certainly paid off. All finalists received an MP3 player and an 'X-Factor" plaque, with the winning club also receiving a statuette to keep in their club.
