No teachers at Kells pub function

Dear Sir - An application for a bar extension was reported in the 16th May edition of the Meath Chronicle. In that article, it was stated by counsel for the applicant that teachers had attended an extension the previous year and would be attending a bar extension this year, if it was allowed. Justice Fitzpatrick asked the court to hear from the teachers. The following is the text of a letter sent by me to Judge Fitzpatrick: 'Dear Judge Fitzpatrick, The board of management of St Ciaran"s Community School support Superintendent Pat Collins" objection to attempts to gain the special exemptions by the Arches Bar, Kells. The board of management wants to absolutely refute the statement reported that teachers from St Ciaran"s Community School were attending a similar function last year. They were not. 'Furthermore, in response to a comment reported from last week"s hearing, there will be no teachers present at any forthcoming event in the Arches this year. 'There will be no teacher from St Ciaran"s at any proposed function, nor was there ever going to be. The school disassociates itself from any efforts by individuals to arrange any function in its name. 'The school is holding a graduation Mass and ceremony on the evening of 18th May. After the ceremony, our students are the responsibility of their parents. 'Once again, the board supports Superintendent Pat Collins" objections to the two special exemptions/bar extensions which have come before the court. 'Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want any further information in this matter.' I understand that the application for the extension has now been withdrawn. Yours sincerely, Dermot Carney, Principal, St Ciaran"s Community School, Kells.
