Late Doyle strike earns Kentstown Rovers a draw

Shaun Doyle netted from a well-hit free kick to earn Kentstown Rovers a draw in this entertaining Meath & District League Div 1 encounter on Sunday. The home side did well to get a point as they were reduced to 10 men early on when Martin Clarke was sent off. It was 1-1 at the break with Matty Garry scoring for Kentstown after good work by Gareth Toal. Goals from Derek Bowens and younger brother David put Kentstown in front, but Dromin hit back to lead before Doyle popped up with his dramatic equaliser. Among those to shine for Kentstown in an excellent team display were Garry and Doyle. OMP Utd 3 Robinstown 4 Robinstown shaded a seven-goal MDL Div 1 thriller by the odd score on Sunday morning. Paul Bartley claimed a hat-trick and Nicholas Lemore also hit the target. Skryne/Tara 3 Summerhill 2 Skryne/Tara continue to look the team to beat in the MDL Div 2 as they notched up another victory this time leaving it late before Mark Jordan rifled home a late winner against Summerhill on Sunday and completed a superb hat-trick. The visitors took the lead midway through the opening half and it looked like Skryne / Tara would equalise when they were awarded a penalty however, Cillian McManus"s spot-kick was saved. McManus"s second goal was a fine individual effort. Excellent for the winners were Jordan, Brian Faherty, Ian Dowd and Darren Carty. Castle Villa 3 Virginia 4 Despite taking an early lead Castle Villa lost out to Virginia in this high-scoring MDL Div 4 encounter. Gary Lynch netted twice for the Meath side with Ciaran McGinley also hitting the target. Virginia led 2-1 at the interval and at one stage in the second-half they were 4-1 ahead. Castle Villa put in a spirited, determined finish, but Virginia held on to claim the points. Shane Carolan and McGinley were in excellent form for Castle Villa who still languish near the bottom of the table. Boca Rovers 6 Moneymore 2 Boca Rovers continued their recent good form in the MDL Div 4 when they fired six past Moneymore at Tara Mines on Sunday. Johnny Murtagh opened the scoring with a superb individual effort. John Callaghan added a second with a spectacular shot before Moneymore came back to make it 2-2. However, Boca pushed on from there and strikes from Ciaran Rogers, Callaghan, Willie Tormey and Peter Kearney sealed the big win. Best for Boca in strong team display were Callaghan, Murtagh and Gerry Houghton. Duleek 0 Carrick Rovers 2 Duleek produced a disappointing display as they were beaten by Carrick Rovers who hit the target in the opening half and held on comfortably for a merited victory. Kells/Blackwater 0 Square 4 Two goals in each half were sufficient in each half as Louth side Square advanced to the next round of the Reserve Cup. Bohermeen 2 Robinstown 1 Robinstown bowed out of the Reilly Cup at the first stage to Bohermeen who forged ahead early in the second-half before Brian Brereton equalised. Robinstown lost "keeper Conor Farrell to a red card after which Bohermeen took the lead from the resultant penalty. Best performers for Robinstown were Stephen Markey, Joseph Farrell and David Gilkeson .
