Early goals pave the way to victory

The platform for this NEC u-17 Div 1 victory at Drogheda was laid down in the opening half when Kells / Blackwater fired home two goals without reply through Darren O"Sullivan and John D Smith. The Drogheda side pulled a goal back however, Kells / Blackwater held on to claim the points. Smith and Gary McConnell went close to adding further goals in the closing stages. James Boland delivered a shot goalwards that was parried by the Trim Celtic goalkeeper and Mickey Duke fired the rebound to the net for the opener. Parkvilla struck again when Jamie Blake found Ian Donnelly who finished well to put his side 2-0 up at the interval. Victory was sealed when Alan Forde"s fine run ended with Duke holding off defenders to net a third. Best for the Navan side were Chris Hand, Forde, Jamie Blake and Sven Kursters. Gary McDermott was also on target for the home side. Parkvilla paid the price for some slack defending with Michael James netting their only goal from a Paul McEntaggert corner. A fine solo effort from Daniel Gismondi put the Navan side ahead at the break. Bailieboro hit a purple patch before two late goals from Dean O"Reilly wrapped up the win.
