Second year Athboy students see Man Utd beat Watford

Some 56 second year students from Athboy Community School and six intrepid teachers had tp endure a hectic weekend when they travelled last Friday via Holyhead to Old Trafford to see Man Utd defeat Watford by 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.

The trip was organised by woodwork teacher Mr Jason O’Grady, ably assisted by Mr Anthony Sheridan.

Four other teachers, Ms Sinead Keenaghan, Ms Louise Byrne, Mr Tony Magner and Mr Liam Fox accompanied the students on the trip.

The group was seated in the Stretford End for the game and the students and teachers were delighted to see a very strong United team take to the field complete with stars such as Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henryk Mhkitaryan, Juan Mata and David DeGea.

After the match, the day was rounded off with a few hours shopping in the Trafford Centre.

On the Sunday morning the group travelled back to Old Trafford for a stadium and museum tour.

The students sampled the United dressing room as well as the dugouts and visited the bulging trophy room, players lounge, press area and tunnel.

The group had a fantastic trip and wish to put on record their thanks to their teachers, especially Mr O’Grady who worked so hard on their behalf to organise and run the trip.
