Trim Celtic chalk up FAI Junior Cup win

Producing some high tempo football Trim Celtic swept aside the challenge of Corrib Rangers to win 3-0 at Tully Park today and advance into the last 32 of the FAI Junior Cup.

The Hoops were the better side throughout conjuring up some excellent football although they did survive an early scare when Damien Clarke directed the ball against his own post as he attempted to clear a Corrib Rangers attack.

Alan Kirwan's troops deservedly took the lead on 32 minutes when Ian Keenan directed the ball home from a Mark Leavy cross.

It stayed 1-0 at the break with Trim Celtic conjuring up all the best chances in the early stages of the second-half.

They added another goal when Leavy and Keenan were involved in a brilliant moved that ended with Aaron Ryan scoring.

Trim Celtic goalkeeper Danny Connell also played his part with a super save late on from a powerful Ronan Quinlivan shot.

In the dying seconds Daryl Kelly fired home from close range after an Aaron Newman effort rebounded off the woodwork.
