The ongoing sporting success enjoyed by St Patrick's CS, Navan was interrupted on Wednesday of last week when their bid to reach rugby's Fr Godfrey Cup Junior final was ended at the penultimate by a talented High School side.
The Navan side started well with Shane Gallagher powering over for a try and Colm O'Reilly converting after just nine minutes. However, that early dominance didn't last as High School battled back to take a 10-7 interval advantage.
High School's failure to convert either of their first-half tries left St Patrick's in touch for the second-half, but the Rathgar school did manage to stretch their advantage when Paul McCarthy crossed over for a converted try.
Gallagher ran in for his second touch down of the afternoon, but it was too little, too late at that stage as the Navan school were dumped out.
