Cheltenham target for Grainne

Navan solicitor Grainne Loughnane, based in Dundalk with Walsh & Co, will be competing in the Cheltenham Festival charity race on Thursday 14th March with 2006 Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Newmill. The Meath woman is an experienced rider who has competed in point-to-points, hunter chases and bumpers and regularly hunts with the Ward Union. Former Meath GAA team sponsor Luke Comer is assisting with the preparations of Newmill at his Dunboyne training centre. "I was lucky enough to get picked for the St Patricks Day Derby in aid of Cancer Research," she told the Meath Chronicle. "A stipulation of the race is that I have to raise money for Cancer Research and I have organised a charity ball in the Burlington, Dublin on Saturday 23rd February, I have also included the CARI Foundation in my fundraising efforts, they offer support and therapy for sexually abused children. "This is a charity close to my heart as I work on a day to day basis with Family and Child Law so I witness the aftermath of sexual abuse and domestic viloence amongst family and children," she added. Dubarry have sponsored her for the race and have also donated a spot prize of a 'his and hers' outfit worth up to €2,000 that will be raffled at the Burlington event.
