Early unlucky 13 for Johnny Murtagh

Bohermeen man Johnny Murtagh admitted this morning that maybe he needs some skiing lessons. The Meath jockey revealed on twitter that he has broken his collar-bone on a skiing holiday in Austria. The former Meath Chronicle / Cusack Hotel Group sportsperson-of-the-year and former champion jockey tweeted "enjoying snow in Saalbach only problem small accident on top of mountain 1st day broken collar walking holiday now!!!" That prompted local trainer and Murtagh's good friend Ger Lyons to remark that "it wouldn't happen to a national hunt jockey."
