Trim's Moira Peppard proved to be the fastest woman in Ireland at her age group when she claimed the Athletics Ireland National Masters Indoor title for both the 60 metres and 200 metres at Nenagh on Sunday.
The Trim athlete has been a a consistent performer on the masters scene over the last few years and she underlined her outstanding form on Sunday with two stunning displays.
Peppard actually produced times that would have been good enough to win gold in the younger categories.
The Trim woman clocked a remarkable 8.66 seconds to win the W45 60-metre event and in the 200 metres she finished clear of the field in an impressive 30.24 seconds.
Both of Peppard's winning times were quicker than the gold medal performances in the W35 and W40 grades.
However, Peppard wasn't the only Trim athlete amongst the medals at the weekend as her club colleague David Tobin took the bronze medal in the senior long jump at the Northern Ireland Athletics Sprint and Jumps meeting at Jordanstown on Sunday.
Tobin also won his semi-final of the 60-metre sprint, but missed out on a medal in the final.
Next weekend both Peppard and Tobin will be among the Trim contingent heading to the first round of the Leinster indoor championships in Nenagh.
The father and son combination of Paddy and Mark Hanily (Fr Murphy AC) got the field season off to a fine start when they finished third in the 56lb hammer for distance at the National Senior Relay Championships last weekend.
The Athboy athletes travelled to the Tipperary venue to compete and claimed bronze following an excellent performance.
The Meath duo finished behind the overall winners from Galway City Harriers and second-placed North Laois.
Mark Hanily produced a throw of 6.86m with Paddy Hanily posting 6.10m in an impressive first outing.
