Navan win Special Olympics title

Coached by Jan Muyllaert, Navan Arch Club celebrated a victory in the Division 2 plate final at the 2011 Special Olympics Ireland National Basketball Cup at the National Basketball Arena on Saturday.

The Navan team, captained by Fiacra Englishby, played five games and were unbeaten in the qualifying phase and took that good form into the decider where they defeated a team from Antrim by 34 - 26.

The trophy was presented by Special Olympics Ireland CEO Matt English.

ncluded in the panel were Liam Brady, Andrew Byrne, John Blake, Francis Power, Kieran Rattigan, Fiacra Englishby, Robert McDonald, Brian Carpenter, Kieran Rattigan with officials Mary Davitt (assistant-coach), Philomena O'Hare (table official), Judith Clarke (table official), Steven Brown, Liam Brady, Francis Power, Andrew Byrne and John Blake.
