Left is right for mulvanys navan winner

Local trainer Michael Mulvany was on the mark at Navan yesterday when Moynalty jockey Declan McDonogh had the steering duties on board Dewline which recorded her second win in three weeks when landing the Meath Handicap.

A return to Navan for the next meeting on Wednesday 21st October is on the cards and, according to the trainer, the filly is better going left-handed.

Dewlinwe has been kept busy since making a rececourse debut at Dundalk last May and was running for the 11th time since then.

The three-year-old filly has recovered well from a mishap at Bellewstown in July when she slipped up in a mile and six furlongs event when going well.

The trainer has had plnety of reasons to celebrate in recent weeks also, apart from Dewline making the winners' enclosure at Listowel three weeks ago, as he is a Dublin supporter and enjoyed the All-Ireland SFC final victory.

That win for Dublin was made a bit more special also as on the day the Dubs won the title, he was in Listowel where he saddled a winner when Rightdownthemiddle won a novice chase.

At Navan yesterday, Declan McDonogh brought Dewline with a smooth run in the straight to hit the front about two furlongs out and go on up the hill to win comfortably from the Lee Roche-partnered Our Rachel.

Roche was on board Dewline for the win at Listowel.

Dewline did not run as a two-year-old as she had a few problems which are now ironed out.

The trainer is now on six winners (flat) for the season and one over jumps.
