Dunboyne syndicate on the mark at fairyhouse

There was plenty to shout about at Fairyhouse today for the members of the Mulvaney's Bar Syndicate from Dunboyne when they welcomed Mydor trained by Tony Martin back into the winners' enclosure after the BobbyJo Bistro Handicap HUrdle.

And there was lots of support in the market for Mydor which was sent off the 5/2 favourite in a field of 13 for the two-mile, six-furlong slog in heavy going.

Members of the syndicate include Brendan Mulvaney, Des McCaffrey, Noel Leonard, Anthony Lynch, Joe Reilly, Philip Reilly, Ray Mitchell, Tom Tone and Kit Toole.

Red and black (racing colours) scarves were waved in the parade ring as Mydor and jockey Shane Shortall returned to a noisy welcome (see video clip).

It was the first leg of a double for Martin who was later on the mark with Noble Emperor in the beginners chase.

There was a lso a win for trainer Gordon Elliott in the last race when Nina Carberry took the laurels in the bumper with Jetstream Jack. Nina Carberry won the last race of 2014 yesterday at Punchestown when she landed the bumper for Noel Meade.

Today, Gordon Elliott was also on the mark at Tramore where Roi Du Mee won listed At The Races Chase for the second time in three years.

Kilmessan native Adrian Maguire also managed a winner on New Year's Day when Davina's Tip won the beginners' chase.
