Keane goes top after Bellewstown double

There was a real Meath flavour at the opening night of Bellewstown's three-day July Festival last night with double for Colin Keane and Declan McDonogh.

Bohermeen man Johnny Murtagh trained Golden Spell to win the opening race with Trim jockey Colin Keane on board.

Keane went on to complete a double when he partnered Song Of Namibia to victoryfor boss Ger Lyons.

That victory move the Meath jockey on to the 35-winner mark for the season and to the top of the table in the process in the race for the jockeys' title.

Moynalty man Declan McDonogh was also in double form at the hillside track when scoring for Ardee handler Harry Rogers with Suburban Sky and
Red Sabor in the following race for Andrew Slattery.

When the action switched to national hunt, Gordon Elliott was the man in from with Davy Russell partnering William B to victory in the Seamus Mulvaney
Handicap Hurdle and then Andrew Lynch was on the mark with Twobeelucky in a novice hurdle.

The action continues this evening at Bellewstwon with the first race off at 5.25pm.
