Magic in opener for Lynam

Dunshaughlin-based trainer Edward Lynam took the opener at Dundalk last night for his 18th winner of the season when Magic Bear went one better than the runner-up position achieved on a debut appearance at Navan at the beginning of October.

Magic Bear finished second at Navan behind Lynam's Miss Power and last night won from the Tracey Collins-trained Almoner and Kevin Prendergasts's Sufoof by half a length and a neck.

Trim jockey Colin Keane was also on the mark when he won on 25/1 shot Burning Brightly for trainer John Murphy. That brought the Trim jockey's tally for the season to 78, that's 77 in Ireland and one in England.

STEWARDS

The Stewards requested a report from the trainer about the apparent improvement in form of Burning Brightly, placed first, as compared with its recent form.

The trainer's representative reported that the horse ran freely on his last start on ground softer than ideal and added that the horse settled better over a shorter trip and seemed to appreciate the surface.

The Stewards noted the explanation.
