Double for Elliott at Bellewstown

Gordon Elliott was in double form at the national hunt second day of the August festival at Bellewstown.

The Willie Mullins-trained Muthaza was the 1/5 favourite for the Bellinter House Classic Mares Hurdle, but fell at the fourth and that left Water Sprite on top for Elliott and jockey Jack Kennedy.

The Longwood-based trainer took the last race for his double when Stolen Diamond won the Woods Financial Services Ltd (Ladies Pro/Am) Flat Race with Katie O'Farrell, the daughter of the owner and breeder, on board.

The Gillian Callaghan-trained Grinditout opened as favourite, drifted and was sent off the 2/1 second favourite - finished seventh.

There was also a first Irish racecourse winner for American rider Jeannie Marie Cook who is originally from Rochester New York as the Paul Power-trained Bakers Street won the opener. The winning rider and the winning trainer are engaged.
