The Galway Plate is the big race of the week and the runners will race away from the tapes at 5.25 this evening in front of what will probably be the biggest crowd of the week at Ballybrit.

Gordon Elliott has three runners with Backstage (Davy Condon), Nedzer's Return (Denis O'Regan) and Valerius (Martin Ferris).

Valerius is a non-runner (lame)

Tony Martin runs Northern Alliance.

Noel Meade's Nicanor (20/1 into 12/1) will be bidding for victory and would be a very popular winner for Paul Carberry.

Other local jockeys will also be in action with Roger Loughran (Sarteano), Paco Jack (Andrew Lynch) and Bob's Pride (Robert Power).

The Last Derby (11/1 into 8/1) will be partnered by Barry Geraghty.
