Meath jockey Robbie Colgan made a wortwhile trip to Tipp today where he landed his first winner of the year at Thurles.

Colgan was on board the Bill Harney-trained Prairie Call which gained a deserved victory in a maiden hurdle after placed efforts on four previous occasions.

Prairie Call edged out the favourite Golden Sunbird (9/10) in a driving finish in which the Meath jockey was seen to good effect.

Cortown jockey Roger Loughran landed the opening hurdle with the Dessie Hughes-trained Action Master which stayed on to hold off the challenge of Sounds Of Jupiter by a length.

FAIRYHOUSE

Trainer Tony Martin helped Ruby Walsh to a treble when Saddlers Storm (4/5) justified strong support in a handicap chase while Michael Cunningham also got off the mark for 2010 in a handicap hurdle with Sharekan (12/1) under Davy Condon.

The trainer acknowledged the help he received from Gordon Elliott who allowed him to use his gallops during the big freeze.
