The bogey man for Damien McGrane
Damien McGrane"s bid to successfully defend his maiden European Tour win in Beijing last week all but ended on the first day of the Volvo China Open when he suffered a disastrous quadruple bogey at the 14th hole.
The Kells man recovered impressively to finish the first day on level par, but eight shots on the 14th must have shot his confidence and left him with too much to do in a competition that was eventually won by 32-year old Australian Scott Strange.
On the second day McGrane shot a two over par 74 and worse was to follow on day three when he carded a horrible 78 that left him on eight over. He did recover on the final day to shoot four under par and finish the tournament on four over, 12 shots behind Strange.
