Geraghty to kick off legends' tour

If the Meath players and supporter are looking for some inspiration before heading to Pairc Tailteann for the All-Ireland SFC qualifier clash with Tyrone they could do worse than join the Graham Geraghty Legends Tour in Croke Park on Saturday morning at 11am.

Geraghty will be the first of a number of GAA greats to take part in the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series; a very special, behind the scenes tour of Croke Park and the GAA Museum where the Seneschalstown club man will look back on his illustrious inter-county career with Meath and Ireland with the International Rules team, which he was a part of in 1999, 2000 and 2006.

It was in 1991 when Geraghty first represented in the green and gold at senior level and in 2008, after an impressive 17-year career with his county, he decided to hang up his intercounty boots. In 2011, the now Clann na nGael club man surprised and revived Meath fans when he decided to come out of retirement and represent the Royal County for a further two seasons in 2011 and 2012.

During his time playing for Meath, Geraghty collected two All-Ireland SFC medals, including one as captain in 1999, one All-Ireland u-21 FC, one All-Ireland MFC, Div 1 and 2 NFL titles, three Leinster SFCs, two Leinster u-21 FCs, one Leinster MFC title and four Railway Cups.

Geraghty was also recognised for his personal contribution to the Meath team when he was rewarded with Allstars in both 1994 and 1999.

On the field, Geraghty was known for his score taking ability and over the course of his senior intercounty career racked up an impressive tally of 15 goals and 82 points. His fancy footwork made him stand out from the crowd and it was a direct result of this that he was called for trials for Arsenal in 1994.

Geraghty’s tour will offer GAA fans a unique chance to experience Croke Park from his perspective as a player.

Tickets for his tour are available on the Croke Park website, www.crokepark.ie/legends but Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club customers can win tickets for all the tours across the summer by signing up to the Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club (bordgaisenergyrewards.ie)

"I’m really excited to be going back to Croke Park to take part in the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series. Croke Park is a very special place and as a player somewhere you never get tired of visiting. I have some very fond memories from my playing days and I look forward to sharing some of these with the people who come to the tour on 9th June 9," said Geraghty.

All Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tours include a trip to the GAA Museum, which is home to many exclusive exhibits, including the official GAA Hall of Fame and a new exhibition celebrating 20 years of the GAA Museum.
