The loss of Jane Dolan to injury was a massive blow for Meath

Royals succumb to rebelettes

Two goals in a three minute spell late in the opening quarter put paid to Meath’s chances of opening their All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship bid with victory against Cork on Saturday afternoon.
Leading by 0-2 to 0-1 after six minutes following a couple of fine points from Jane Dolan, it all quickly went horribly wrong for John Davis’s side as Cork responded with three successive points before goals from Amanda O’Regan, who finished with 1-8 to her name, and Linda Collins left Meath trailing 0-2 to 2-5 and out of contention before the end of the first 15 minutes.
Meath did put up a spirited fight to close the gap to 0-8 to 2-7 before half-time, but an injury to Dolan limited their attacking threat and that was reflected in a second-half display that saw them record just one point which came two minutes into injury-time as Cork wrapped up an easy 2-13 to 0-9 win.
