Tough group for keegan cup holders

Defending SFC champions Navan O'Mahonys will open the defence of their title on the weekend of the 12th April when they tackle Seneschalstown again in a repeat of last year's first round tie.

O'Mahonys will also face IFC champions Ballinlough, Donaghmore/Ashbourne, Skryne and St Patrick's in a tough group.

Defending SHC champions Kiltale also face a tough test with an opening round tussle against

Longwood while Kilmessan, Dunboyne, Boardsmill and Trim complete the group.

The football championships are provisionally scheduled for weekend 12th April.

HURLING

Kilmessan have won the Jubilee Cup on 29 occassions and lead the way ahead of Trim who won their 26th title in 2001.

“I'd prefer to see Trim in the other group,” commented sponsor CJ Murtagh of Ted Murtagh Clothing and Footwear.

“They (Trim) were probably a bit ahead of themselves getting to the final last year, but Trim playing Kilmessan will bring back a lot of memories, it's a tough group,” he added.

The top two in each group will qualify for the JHC semi-finals while the third and fourth placed teams in each group will contest the Div 2 HC semi-finals. Each team will play seven qualifying games.
