Plenty of lively discussion promised at hurling meeting

There should be plenty of lively discussion at tonight's meeting of the Hurling Promotion and Development Committee at Trim.

While there are routine matters up for discussion the agenda is also likely to include the appointment of Martin Ennis as the senior team manager and the issue of who he will have as his selectors.

It is understood that a number of people involved in Meath hurling are unhappy at the way the Co Board went about appointing the new manager.

Kiltale's Paddy Kelly was the only nomination however, the Co Board put forward Martin Ennis and he was ratified by club delegates at the last Co Board meeting.

Kevin Dowd was named as one of the selectors so was Mike Cole and subsequently Nicky Horan although it is understood that the Kilmessan man will not be taking up the position and neither will Mike Cole - at the moment anyway.
