Gaeil Colmcille point their way to IFC title

Leading all the way Gaeil Colmcille claimed the IFC title with a resounding 0-18 to 0-5 victory over Clann na nGael in front of approximately 3,000 spectators at Pairc Tailteann this afternoon.

Nine years after they were relegated from the senior ranks Gaeil Colmcille are now back up into the top flight.

Strong favourites going into the game Jody Devine's side lived up to their billing cruising into a 0-8 to 0-3 interval lead before powering on to win with relative ease.

Five of their much-vaunted foward line got on the scoresheet with both Seamus Mattimoe and Brian Hanlon bagging five points apiece.

Danny McGovern, Stephen McManus added two apiece with both Gary Arkins and Martin Barrett also chipping in with a point each.

Gaeil Colmcille finished the game with 14 players when in the closing seconds Seanie Curran was sent off.

Injury denied Clann na nGael's Oran Fitzpatrick a start in this game and with Jamie Shaw suspended they never really got going.

They enjoyed a purple patch soon after half-time but Graham Geraghty's outfit lacked punch up front with Caoimhin O Griofa their only forward to score from play when he pointed in the second-half.
