Oristown produce the right formula
It was full marks for Oristown as they showed all the skill and desire necessary to overcome the spirited challenge of Dangan in this Meath Primary Schools' Boys Div 4 final on Saturday. Leading the charge for Oristown throughout a close encounter was their captain Thomas O'Reilly who ended up contributing 1-7 to his team's account. O'Reilly's goal after just four minutes did have an element of luck as it took a wicked deflection on the way to the net however, his point-taking was top notch and he was a happy youngster afterwards when he was called upon to climb the Pairc Tailteann steps to accept the silverware. With Eanna O'Kelly-Lynch pulling the strings at midfield Oristown created plenty of chances and they had the players to take full advantage. Certainly Conor Banahan and Conor McGovern didn't hesitate when goal chances came their way. They looked up and the net danced. Dangan didn't make the best of starts, but they trailed by only 3-1 to 2-7 at the interval. Their goals came from sizzling shots. Mark Donoghue unleashed two of them straight to the net while Cathal Ryan made no mistake when he powered home. Iarla Hughes also drilled over. Ryan rifled over three first-rate points in the second-half as Dangan enjoyed a purple patch. They had plenty of play without managing to make it count on the scoreboard. Oristown found a response in the second-half with McGovern's goal and two points from O'Reilly to stay in front and seal a deserved victory.
