VIDEO: Transform your Fitness with David McCabe

WEEK 1- Tell me why?

We all need a reason to embark on a new beginning. Whether you’re motivated to search for a new job, return to college or set off on a round-the-world adventure. It’s the same when it comes to your health and fitness.

Are you apprehensive about the prospect of wearing little more than a bikini or a pair of board shorts on your approaching sunshine holiday? Do you cringe every time you wriggle into your favourite skinny jeans and notice a muffin-top poking out over the waist band? Are you dreading being in endless photos and videos on your wedding day, because you’re self-conscious that you are out of shape? You’re not alone, and the desire to lose weight and look good is a common reason for joining a gym. It is also the biggest mistake people make. It is a vague and short-term motivation that will only last for a few weeks or months. Then you’re back to square one. If you truly want to transform your health and fitness regime and have lasting results, you need to have a clear, long-term plan. By setting yourself targets as you go, you can monitor your progress and achieve your goals.

You may be familiar with the Buddhist proverb, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”. My name is David McCabe and I’m the director of Transform Fitness ® and a qualified personal trainer. Over the next 10 weeks I’ll be guiding you through the dos & don’ts, my exercise programme structure, offering nutrition tips and much more.  Each column will feature a link for a video of my exercise programme for the week, a healthy recipe and Transformer of the Week which will all be available on www.transformfitness.ie .

Before you change your body, you must change your mind. Your first step on the path to successfully transforming your lifestyle is to identify the real reason you want to overhaul your current health and fitness regime. This reason will be the key to your success. Is it time to focus on yourself – is the time right to give yourself a makeover? It’s not selfish to take the time to look after your own well-being. It will lead to you feeling better about yourself and having more energy to spend quality time with loved ones. Don’t you owe it to yourself to be the best you can be? The sooner you start the sooner you’ll begin to feel better, stronger and empowered.
