Eureka construction company in liquidation

There are concerns over the completion of the new Eureka Secondary School building, following the news that that  construction company Carrilion, was forced into liquidation.
Carillion is responsible for the design, build, finance and maintenance of five schools on four sites in counties Carlow, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow, including the long awaited Eureka project, which  involves the replacement of the post primary school and will provide 800 pupil places.
Staff and students were expected to move ino the new building on the Cavan Road early this year.
Worldwide, Carillion has been involved in a number of large-scale projects, such as Battersea Power station redevelopment and the Anfield Stadium expansion. It was also due to be involved in the forthcoming HS2 high-speed railway line in the UK.

* In an earlier report we referred to Sammon Contracting Ireland limited (SCIL) as being a subsidiary of Carillion.

SCIL is not, and has never been, a subsidiary of Carillion. SCIL is a completely independent, Irish owned construction company, which has been in existence for 32 years. Any suggestion that SCIL is part of the financial problems experienced by Carillion is completely incorrect. We are happy to clarify this.
